Jonty studied Food Science and Nutrition at London University, then went on to teach for 44 years, including at Roehampton University and secondary school in Richmond. During this time she was chief examiner for A-level Home Economics science elements in Northern Ireland, curriculum developer and author of teaching text books. Jonty also served for ten years as a magistrate in south west London adult court and central London family court. Jonty is a keen traveller and bridge player.
